My only regret was forgetting the sunscreen! My girlfriend and I had an amazing time with Captain Dan. He was friendly, easy to get along with, and prepared an incredible meal. He put us on largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, and bowfin. We couldn’t have asked for a better fishing trip. Thank you, Captain Dan!

We had a great five-hour trip and caught around 15 fish between the two of us. None were big enough to keep, but we still had a fun and enjoyable time on the water!

My son and I had a fantastic time fishing with Captain Dan. He brought both spinning and fly-fishing gear for me and made sure we had everything we needed. We caught trout and bass using several different setups. I would gladly book another float trip with him!

My wife and I had an excellent October day fishing on the Muskegon River with Dan Healy. He’s everything you’d hope for in a guide: knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested in helping you catch fish and learn something new. The river delivered too. The water was crystal clear, and fish were easy to spot along long stretches of the drift. Dan knows this river better than anyone. He positioned us over Chinook salmon redds across more than four miles of water, working a steady section where fish were actively holding in the current over their spawning beds. Fishing over a salmon spawn requires a little finesse. Presenting yarn and yarn-style lures to fish that are locked into position against the current takes timing and technique. Dan took the time to coach us through the process, answering questions and helping us adjust until it clicked. We hooked multiple big Chinook, including several we were fortunate enough to land. Dan’s teaching style really stood out. He stayed calm, encouraging, and attentive, even when the river tested our patience. That made the day better, especially when learning a new presentation. The drift boat kept things comfortable and relaxing too, letting us take in the sunshine and scenery while staying right on the fish. It was a day full of big moments, good conversation, and plenty of unforgettable memories. If you’re thinking about booking a Muskegon River trip, Dan is a guide we’d recommend without hesitation.

Dan was excellent at reading the river’s changes and understanding its highs and lows. He kept our rods rigged and ready, which made switching between lures and bait fast and simple when conditions shifted. Having that ability to adjust on the spot kept the day moving and the bites coming. He also stayed on top of the weather, sharing updates early and offering clear guidance when timing or plans needed to change. Communication was a highlight. He kept in touch regularly, gave honest feedback, and made sure we felt supported and informed leading up to the trip. Dan consistently goes the extra step for his clients. From preparing gear for quick change-outs to checking the forecast and adapting plans when needed, he’s the kind of guide who genuinely wants you to have the best possible day on the water. It made a big difference in the overall experience, and we truly appreciated it.

We got into the steelhead right away and added brown and rainbow trout to the catch. Captain Dan did a solid job putting us on fish. He’s a good captain, easy to fish with, and clearly knows his water. The day was relaxed, fun, and one we’ll remember.

Captain Dan knows his waters and his fish. The weather wasn’t on our side, but he still put us on plenty of catches. He’s patient, knowledgeable, and a great guide for both first-timers and experienced anglers. We’re looking forward to many more trips with him!

We got into plenty of Steelhead and also landed Brown and Rainbow Trout. The captain was great, and the whole trip was a lot of fun!

We experienced it all—peaceful scenery, fresh mist, the rhythm of casting, and the shimmer of fish in the water. Then came the battle: an acrobatic Steelhead, glowing pink and green, finally in hand. Dan is an excellent fisherman and guide, full of patience for beginners like me. We’ll definitely be back for more!

My 10-year-old and I had an amazing time on the water, catching plenty of Pike and Smallmouth Bass—exactly what we were hoping for. The captain was friendly, knowledgeable, and great at teaching us how to work different lures. We’d definitely book another trip!
